Philippe Braunschweig Grant

This year, the International Organization for the Transition of Professional Dancers (IOTPD) awarded the Philippe Braunschweig Grant for the first time. This grant of € 3000 is a contribution towards the costs of retraining a dancer who has had an international career, but is not eligible for support in one of the countries in which he or she has worked. The grant is named after the founder of the IOTPD, Phillippe Braunschweig , who died in 2010.

This year, the grant was awarded to Sebastien Thill. After 24 years with Paris Opera and Hamburg Ballet, among other companies, he is ending his dancing career. He will be using the money from the Philippe Braunschweig Grant to fund his retraining as a Gyrotonics Instructor.

Applications can still be submitted for the 2015 Philippe Braunschweig Grant. The deadline is 30 April 2015. For more information, see:

"When as a dancer it is time for a change, a lot of feeling of insecurity arises. The Omscholingsregeling gave me financial support and self confidence to face these new challenges." (Jérôme Meyer)
